LORNA L. ‘PAT’ FRASER NEWPORT – Lorna L. “Pat” Fraser, 80, died June 2, 2004, at a Pittsfield hospital, following a long illness. She was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia, July 31, 1923, the daughter of William and Laura (O’Brien) Cattach. She was educated in Australia. “Pat” married Karl Fraser on Dec. 21, 1943, in Australia, during World War II. Right after their marriage he moved her to his home in Newport, where she resided until her death. “Pat” was very proud of her Australian decent and never gave up her Australian citizenship. “Pat” worked as a waitress in restaurants in the Newport area for several years. She and Karl owned and operated Fraser’s Diner on Elm Street in Newport for many years. From 1962 until 1980, “Pat” was the head cook and food service supervisor at Sebasticook Valley Hospital in Pittsfield. She loved to feed anybody and everybody. Her favorite hobby was pari-mutuel horse racing. She attended the Peoples United Methodist Church in Newport. She is survived by two sons, Karl and his wife, Susan Fraser, of Plymouth, Robert B. Fraser of Boca Raton, Fla.; one daughter and her husband, Leeann and Dennis Dunton of Plymouth; six grandchildren, Kristopher B. Fraser, Hillary J. Fraser, Matthew J. Fraser, Lynn A. Fraser, Darek F. Dunton, Jacqueline K. Dunton; four great-grandchildren, Paije, Kolin, Kystend and Gage. She will also be remembered by her extended family; two brothers-in-law, Byron Fraser of Newport, Dwight Fraser of Brewer; and her sister-in-law and husband, Pauline and “Bub” Almer Davis of Plymouth; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Karl on Dec. 28, 1980; and by her brother, William; and sister, Rose. At “Pat’s” request there are no public visitations. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Friday, June 4, 2004, at the Peoples United Methodist Church, Main Street, Newport. Friends who wish may make memorial donations to the Peoples United Methodist Church, Main Street, Newport, to help with the new parking expansion project.
