OLD TOWN – Lorraine Marie (Treadwell) Shay, 77, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Oct. 7, 1928, on French Island in Old Town, the daughter of the late Fred and Emaline (Tedd) Treadwell. Lorraine was married to the late Gerald V. Shay Sr., retired Air Force; and was a dedicated military wife. She lived in Las Vegas, for more than 25 years and later moved back to Maine in April 1997. Lorraine loved “Lord of the Rings Trilogy” and “Price is Right.” She also enjoyed carnations and roses. Lorraine worked for the Air Force Base Exchange in Germany and Las Vegas. She also worked for the Old Town Shoe Factory. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her greatest pride and joy. She is survived and will be sadly missed by her daughter, Patricia Shay of Indian Island; son, Gerald Shay Jr. and his wife, Teresa, of Las Vegas; five grandchildren, Sulian Shay and Edward Shay, both of Indian Island, Amanda Wallace and her husband, Jonathan, of Henderson, Nev., Gerald Shay III and Rhonda Osborn and her husband, Osric Sr., all of Las Vegas; great-grandson, Osric Osborn Jr.; great-grand-daughter, Emily Osborn; sister, Velma Austin of Bangor; two brothers, Fred Treadwell Jr. of Melbourne, Fla. and Arthur Treadwell of Richmond, Va.; stepdaughter, Sharon Price and her husband, Nelson, of Denver, NC.; stepgranddaughters, Becky Sue Pressley of Littleton, N.C., Amy Price of Denver, N.C; stepgrandson, Jonathon Price of Denver, N.C.; and three great-step-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. A celebration of life will be conducted 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Indian Island Faith Tabernacle with the Rev. Clara Cote officiating. A luncheon and continued fellowship will be held in the church hall immediately after the service.
