SEBAGO – Louise E. Cummings, 77, passed away Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at her home, after a long, courageous battle with multiple sclerosis and cancer. She was born May 18, 1930, in Portland, daughter of Grace Chadbourne and Mark A. Snow Jr. Louise was a graduate of Potter Academy, Sebago and the University of Maine. She did graduate work at the University of Southern Maine, Long Island University, and Hofstra University. Mrs. Cummings was a teacher in Hartland and Newport, Westhampton Beach, Long Island, N.Y., and in Bow, N.H. On Nov. 25, 1951, she married Norman “Bom” Cummings. Mrs. Cummings enjoyed reading, gardening and genealogy. She was a Girl Scout leader and a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a member of the Mayflower Society, D.A.R.-Mollyockett Chapter, Nokomis Chapter of the OES, National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Sebago Historical Society, and the Sebago Center Community Church. After retiring, she lived in Zepherhills, Fla., for half the year and returned each spring to spend the other half of the year on her beloved Douglas Hill, an area settled by her maternal grandparents, the Chadbourne and Douglas families. She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Susan Cummings of Sebago and Kathryn Malon and her husband, Dr. Marc Malon, of Biddeford; her two grandchildren, Marc G. Malon II and Christina Louise Malon, both of Biddeford; her sister, Edith Chadbourne Snow Cole of Mahwah, N.J.; her brother, James O. Snow and wife, Bonnie, of Sebago; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Visiting hours will be 6-8 p.m. Friday, May 25, from York Funeral Chapel, 71 Maple St., Cornish. A funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, May 26, at the Sebago Center Community Church. Burial will be held after at Babb Cemetery, on the Ridge, Sebago.
