BANGOR and GULFPORT, Fla. – Lucille E. Whitty, 87, of Gulfport and St. Petersburg, Fla., passed away Monday, April 10, 2006, at St. Anthony’s Hospital. She was born in New York City, N.Y. and raised in Westport, Conn. She went to Gulfport, Fla. as a winter resident from New Canaan, Conn. for more than 30 years. She was a homemaker, and Catholic belonging to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She was active in dancing at Gulfport Beach. Throughout the years she made her beliefs known by writing her opinons to the editors at the St. Petersburg Times and the New Canaan Advertisor. She was predeceased by her first husband, Samuel Grallo. Survivors include her husband, Hugh Whitty Jr.; a son, Samuel Grallo of Walling Ford, Conn.; two daughters, Beverly Westcott of Rochester, Vt., Sharon Therriault of South Yarmouth, Mass.; a sister, Florence O’Hara of Norwalk, Conn.; three stepdaughters, Lucille Neill of Virginia, Catherine Kingsbury of Florida, Elizabeth Davis of Maine; a stepson, Hugh Whitty III of Maine; four grandchildren, Debra Willett of New Canaan, Conn., Glen Shepard of Wheelock, Vt., Keith Westcott of New York City, N.Y., Dana Stuckas of California; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church, Bangor at a later time in the spring at a date to be announced by the Foley Funeral Service.
