LUCILLE MACE RAND BANGOR – Lucille Mace Rand, 82, died Oct. 28, 2003, at a local hospital. She was born Dec. 15, 1920, in Saugus, Mass., the daughter of Richard and Ellen (Sadler) Pugh. Lucy grew up in Saugus and Lynn, Mass. Her adult life was spent mostly in Madison and Bangor, as well as St. Johnsbury, Vt. At every stage and station of her life, Lucy made and maintained an enormous group of cherished friends. One of her greatest joys was corresponding with her dearest friends by mail. Church activities were also very important to Lucy. She sang in the choir and held a variety of offices at the Essex Street Baptist Church. Lucy was graduated from Lynn High School in Massachusetts and held a variety of clerical and retail positions over the years. Some of her favorite employers included Smileys, The Red Cross, The Maine Job Service and the Learning Center, all in Bangor. In her early years she worked for Lynn Gas & Electric and Blood’s Bakery. She was predeceased by her first husband, Donald C. Mace of Madison; and her second husband, John Rand of St. Johnsbury, Vt. Survivors include her daughter, Linda I. Mace and Linda’s husband, Bill Russakoff and the Russakoff family whom she thought of as her own. A celebration of life will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 2, 2003, at the Essex Street Baptist Church in Bangor with Rev. Randall Wilbur officiating. Please come and celebrate her life as we share stories and remembrances. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to her beloved Essex Street Baptist Church, The American Cancer Society or the charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are under the care of Cremation Services of Maine, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast.
