PITTSFIELD – Mrs. Mabel C. Dysart died peacefully in her home at 8 Easy St., Pittsfield, on Sunday morning, Feb. 15, 2004, in the arms of her husband, Lawrence. Mabel was born in Skowhegan in 1912, daughter of Maurice and Mary (Burbee) Clough. She was a 1930 Skowhegan High graduate and attended Colby College. She married her high school sweetheart, Lawrence, in 1931. At the time of her death, they had been married nearly 73 years. In 1935, the couple moved to Pittsfield where they established L.A. Dysart’s 5 & 10 Cent Store. The business grew to be a thriving department store until they retired in 1974. Her specialty dress shop was efficiently run and profitable. Mabel once remarked, “We have no customers, only friends.” She was a loyal member of the Tuesday club, the St. Agnes Guild, and an accomplished pianist and organist at the St. Agnes Church. She also raised a wonderful family. Her two daughters; son; 21 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild were very devoted to her for her love and many sacrifices over the years. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Quint, and her husband, Marty, of Pittsfield; a son, Lawrence Dysart and his wife, Mary Lou, of North Reading, Mass.; and a son-in-law, Lucien Veilleux of Waterville. She is predeceased by her daughter, Nancy Veilleux. There will be no viewing but the Dysart family will be home to any wish to call. The family invites everyone to celebrate the Mass of the Resurrection 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, 2004, at St. Agnes Church, Pittsfield, with a reception to follow in the parish hall. Please, no contributions, but the family welcomes your prayers and visits.
