PRESQUE ISLE – Mabel I. McBride, 91, died peacefully May 29, 2008, surrounded by her loving family, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born Oct. 6, 1916, in Belleville, New Brunswick, the daughter of Stanley and Beryla McBride. Mabel was the church organist in Jackson Falls, New Brunswick, for many years. Mabel was employed at F.W. Woolworths, Houlton and then Zayers, Presque Isle, until her retirement. Mabel greatly enjoyed residing at Academy Street Apartments, Presque Isle for many years. Mabel is survived by her brother and his wife, Ray and Lu McBride; her great-niece, Deborah Roope; and her great-nephew, Douglas Lyon. She is also survived by her cousins, Lawrence Ketchum, Carrie Hayden, Irma Parker and Greta Fream. She will be fondly remembered by her many friends at Academy Street Apartments; and her very special friend, Effie Lyons. Mabel was predeceased by her parents; and her niece, Marilyn McBride, Lyon whom she had a very close and loving relationship with throughout her life. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 2, at Episcopal Church, Presque Isle, with the Rev. Robert Smith officiating. Friends are invited to call 9:30-10:30 a.m. until time of service at the church. Interment will be after the service in Jackson Falls, New Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Association. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, Presque Isle.
