MAPLETON – Madeline Gardiner, 86, died Monday morning Feb. 7, 2005, at a Presque Isle healthcare facility. She was born June 17, 1918, at Westfield the daughter of Michael and Edith (Dosto) Bear. She was a devoted wife and mother, and loved to cook. She is survived by two sons and their wives, William and Sonya Gardiner of Presque Isle, Paul and Marcia Gardiner of Waverly, Iowa; a daughter, Carolyn Turner and her husband, Curtis, of Presque Isle; a brother, John Bear of East Hampton, Conn.; six grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. At her request there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at Southside Cemetery, Mapleton in the spring. Donations may be made in memory of Madeline to Alzheimer’s Assn.
