BROOKSVILLE – Madeline “Ma” Dow, 87, died July 5, 2008, at a Penobscot health care facility. She was born Oct. 9, 1920, in Brooksville, the daughter of James T. and Eleanor (Clifford) Babbidge. Madeline was a farmer’s wife, a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a founding member of the Jolly Helpers of West Brooksville Congregational Church. She is survived by her son, Larry Dow and wife, Lee; daughters, Carolyn Gray and husband, Rick, Margaret Rackliffe and husband, Dennis, Lois Austin and husband, David; grandchildren, Matt and CJ Dow, Jouette Black, Darrell Gray, Dana Rackliffe, Susie Keenan, Jennifer Dyer and Bruce Austin; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Alton Dow; and her sister, Marie Gross. A gathering of family and friends will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 11, at West Brooksville Congregational Church. A private graveside service will be held at a later date at Evergreen Cemetery, Cape Rosier.
