NEW LIMERICK – Madeline P. Smith, 91, died on Sept. 12, 2004, at a local health care facility. She was born Dec. 28, 1912, at Island Falls, the daughter of Joseph and Minnie (Brooks) Paradis. Madeline graduated from Island Falls High School, Class of 1931, and trained at the Madigan Hospital until her marriage to Charles I. Smith. She was a member of the Island Falls High School Alumni, the Houlton Grange for more than 50 years, the County Extension and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the retired senior volunteer program and a member of the Houlton Regional Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling at the Houlton Lodge of Elks and the Meduxnekeag Club. She is survived by three sons, Richard C. Smith and his wife, Molly, of Dover-Foxcroft, George S. Smith and his wife, Pearl, Roger E. Smith and his wife, Nancy, all of New Limerick; 10 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren; one sister, Dora Shorette of Saco. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles I. Smith, six brothers, and five sisters. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, at the Dunn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Tuttle officiating. Interment will be in the New Limerick Cemetery.
