PRESCOTT, Ariz. – Madge Brown Sewell, 99 years young, passed away Oct. 5, 2006, after a short illness. She was born in Smyrna Mills, the daughter of Rollen and Isadore Brown. Madge was a graduate of Farmington State Normal School, Class of 1926. She taught for 38 years in rural schools in the state of Maine. A longtime member of Smyrna Methodist Church, Madge married Kenneth Randolph Sewell Aug. 18, 1929, and had one son, Gilbert. In 1981, then a widow, Madge moved to Prescott, Ariz., to be closer to her son, who passed away in 1995. Madge is lovingly remembered by a large family, including her sister, Gladys Cotta; daughter-in-law, Phyllis, both of Prescott, Ariz.; nieces, Carole Clark of Presque Isle, Marilyn Langley of Stockholm and Sandra Culberson of Norristown, Pa.; grandchildren, Rebecca Brown, Kathleen Pate and Kenneth Sewell; greatgrandchildren, Sabra Rios, Benjamin Pate, Sarah Pate, Sam Brown, Gabriella Sewell and Calvin Sewell; and great-great-grandchildren, Andrew and Bella Rios. In beauty and grace, she lives forever in our hearts. A memorial service will be held in Prescott, Ariz., in late November.
