BANGOR – Malcom E. Brown, 81, husband of the late Barbara (Wha-len) Brown, died March 23, 2007, at the Maine Veterans’ Home, Bangor. He was born Sept. 10, 1925, in Norway, son of Edward H. and Muriel (McKeen) Brown. Bud was a graduate of Norway High School, Class of 1942, and a 1948 graduate of the University of Maine. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II. He was employed by the Merrill Trust Co. as the Dover-Foxcroft branch manager, later transferring to Bangor as a commercial loan officer, until his retirement in 1985. Bud was a member of the Dover-Foxcroft and Bangor Kiwanis clubs and the Jaysees of Dover-Foxcroft. He was an Eagle Scout and continued his love of scouting as a committee member of the Katahdin Area council. Bud was a lifelong Red Sox fan and avid golfer. Surviving are five children, Steven E. Brown and his wife, Storie, of Hampden, James A. Brown and his wife, Barbara, of Dover-Foxcroft, William G. Brown and Corinne Fish of Ashland, Susan B. Chase, Mark J. Brown and his wife, Linda, all of Hampden; nine grandchildren, Sean E. Brown and his wife, Leah, Christopher S. Brown and his wife, Anna, Alicia T. Rivers and her husband, Nicholas, Scott M. Brown and his wife, Jessica, Eric D. Brown and his fianc?e, Elise Blunt, Sarah E. Chase, Andrew E. Chase, Kyla J. Brown and Devyn B. Brown; one great-grandson, Kyle C. Brown; one sister, Margaret Bunker of Auburn; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Henry and Jean Whalen of Dexter; several neices and nephews. In addition to his wife, Barbara, and his parents, he was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Dana Bunker; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Carol Whalen. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. Sunday, March 25, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Monday, March 26, with the Rev. Robert C. Vaillancourt, pastor of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, Hampden, presiding. Interment will be at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., after the services Monday.
