BAR HARBOR – Margaret Campbell Riddell, 97, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother died Sept. 22, 2004, at a Bar Harbor healthcare facility. She was born May 8, 1907, in Edinburgh, Scotland, the daughter of Kenneth and Helen (Duncan) Campbell. Margaret emigrated from Scotland to the United States in 1930 to marry her fianc? Jock Riddell, a Scotsman from Ayrshire. They loved Bar Harbor and lived together there for 52 years until Jock’s death in 1982, after which Margaret moved to Ellsworth to reside with her son, Kenneth and his wife, until she entered Sonogee in Bar Harbor in June of 2002. She is survived by two sons and their wives, Kenneth and Margaret D. Riddell of Ellsworth and Matthew and Jane Riddell, of Hender-sonville, N.C.; daughters-in-law, Gertrude Riddell of Bar Harbor and Anne Riddell of Woodland; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grand-daughters. In addition to her parents and husband, Margaret was predeceased by two brothers, George and Kenneth; two sisters, Jane and Helen; and two sons, Jack and George. Services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery, Hulls Cove. Whereas Margaret was a longtime member of the Bar Harbor Congregational Church, contributions in her memory may be made to the Bar Harbor Congregational Church Capital Building Fund Campaign, 131 Mount Desert St., Bar Harbor, ME 04609.
