PASSADUMKEAG – Margaret E. Leavitt died on March 14, 2004, at the Cummings Healthcare Center in Howland, where she had resided for the past four months. Margaret was born Jan. 17, 1913, in Chester, to Chester and Virginia (Lancaster) Clukey. A graduate of Winn High School, she married Clifton B. Leavitt in Lincoln on July 3, 1937. Margaret worked at the J. J. Newberry Co. store in Lincoln for many years, retiring in 1975. She was a member of the Passadumkeag Baptist Church and a Lifetime Member of the Passadumkeag Grange No. 586. She is survived by her daughter and husband, Estella and Jon Whitten Sr. of Clinton; granddaughters, Jennifer and husband, Kenny Morrell, of Sebago Lake, Julia and husband, Daniel Frost, of Windham; and a grandson, Jon H. Whitten Jr. of Westbrook. She has seven great-grandchildren, Kenneth, Ryan, Amanda, Katelyn and Nicole Morrell and Jacob and Rachel Frost; and a great-great-grandson, Kolby Morrell. Also there are nieces, Sherillee and husband, Philip Baker, of Winterport, and Jomelinda McLellan of Manchester, N.H.; and a nephew, Donald Clukey and his wife, Marie, of Truckee, Calif.; plus several dear cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Clifton; sister, Louise Smith; and brothers, Joseph and Grover Clukey. Visiting hours will be 12:30-2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, followed immediately by a memorial service. Burial will be in the Gould’s Ridge cemetery, Passadumkeag.
