MACHIAS – Margaret “Marnie” (Eldridge) Myers died peacefully March 14, 2006, in Machias. She was born Feb. 4, 1921, in Franklin, to Merrit and Martha (Tenny) Eldridge. She achieved a teaching degree and taught school in Wesley and Franklin, but made her career working and traveling with her husband doing land surveys. They made their home in Machias where she continued to work by his side holding a prism and yielding a machete. She devoted herself to genealogy with particular focus on the history of Machias and her love of a bridge game. Margaret was predeceased by her parents and her siblings, Roy, Dorothy and Blanche. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Edgar “Ted” Myers of Machias; a daughter, Sharon Stanhope; a son, Gregory Myers and his wife, Leta, of Machias; grandchildren, Edgar “Teddy,” Susan, Chris, Stacey, Matthew, Michelle, Michael and Rebecca; and many great-grandchildren. She will be missed by many. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, March 17, at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, 6 Cooper St., Machias. Burial will follow at Longfellow Cemetery.
