CALAIS – Margaret H. Kelly, 86, died Friday, July 11, 2008, at a Calais nursing home. Margaret was born Oct. 19, 1921, in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, daughter of the late Allan and Florence (Ryan) Kelly. She worked in her earlier years at Ware Knitters and for many years as a waitress for local restaurants in Calais, including St. Croix Hotel, The Angelholm and Madeline’s Restaurant. Margaret’s greatest joy, dedication and accomplishments in her life were her family. She enjoyed the holidays and family get-togethers. Margaret loved to sing and was particularly fond of Irish songs. Her favorite song was “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling.” Margaret was a communicant of Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Calais, and Sherman Brothers Unit No. 3 American Legion Auxiliary. In addition to her parents, Margaret was predeceased by her brothers, Charles, Leo, Lawrence and George; and sisters-in-law, Madeline and Dot. Surviving are her daughter, Teresa MacLean of Calais; her son, Michael Kelly of Calais; sisters, Mary Kelly and Gertrude Mercier of Calais; a granddaughter, Ann Marie (McClure) Flood and her husband, Ronnie, of Cooper; great-grandson, Trevor Flood and his wife, Shannon, of Cooper; great-granddaughter, Vanessa Flood and her companion, David Townsend, of Robbinston; a great-great-grandson, Caleb Michael Townsend; sister-in-law, Joan Kelly of Calais; many nieces and nephews. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at Mays Funeral Home, 26 Church St., Calais. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at Immaculate Conception R.C. Church by Father Frank Morin. Burial will be after at Calais Cemetery.
