WINSLOW – Margaret Louise Blood, 72, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2005, at Maine General Medical Center, Waterville. She was born March 11, 1933, in Montville, the daughter of Mildred and Adrie Giggey. She was a graduate of Freedom Academy High School, Class of 1951. She attended classes at the University of Maine at Orono, and at Husson College. Margaret married Leroy Blood on Jan. 2, 1953. She was a secretary for the agricultural department at the University of Maine at Orono, from 1955 to 1957. In 1957, Margaret took time off from work to raise her family. In the 1960’s, she was a secretary at St John’s Catholic School in Winslow. Margaret later became the secretary to the principal at Waterville High School, where she worked for 20 years, Margaret retired in the late 1980’s. Margaret found great joy in caring for her family; she enjoyed sewing, cooking, planting flowers and gardening as well as her annual trips to Orlando, Fla., with her family. Margaret was a 50-year member of the National Grange, Patrons of Husbandry. She was also a member of St. John’s Catholic Church. Margaret is survived by her husband of 52 years, Roy Blood of Winslow; her son Steven, and his fianc?e, Toni, of Benton; her daughter, Elaine and husband, Scott Knowlen, of Winslow; her granddaughter, Katie, of Winslow; her mother, Mildred Pottle, of Montville; brother, Clayton Giggey, and wife, Mildred, of Montville; a sister-in-law, Carol and husband, Andy Chabot, of Lewiston; sister-in-law, Ruth Blood, of Skowhegan; brothers-in-law, Clayton and wife, Barbara Blood, of Searsport, and Stanley and wife, Edna Blood, of Belfast; many nieces and nephews. Margaret was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Maurice Blood. Visiting hours will be held 6-7:30 p.m. Friday, March 18, 2005, at Veilleux Funeral Home, 8 Elm St., Waterville. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2005, at St. John the Baptist Church, Monument Street, Winslow.
