BANGOR – Margarette “Mary” (Clark) Ryan, 80, passed away peacefully, Sept. 2, 2005, at a local hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born Aug. 10, 1925, in Bangor, the daughter of the late Herbert W. and Margarette “Alice” (Perkins) Clark. In 1947, she married Donald E. Ryan of Boston. Mary was employed as a bookkeeper for many years with K-Mart Corporation, retiring in 1987. She was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bangor and was a member of the women’s sodality, served in funeral ministry and as a greeter. She also volunteered at the Dorothy Day Soup Kitchen. She had been a member of the Bangor Nature Club, the Audubon Society, volunteered at Leonard’s Mills, and enjoyed time with her friends at the Bangor Senior Center. She enjoyed traveling, her vegetable garden, nature walks, hiking and playing Bridge with friends. Above all, she dearly loved her family and was a generous caregiver. She is survived by her children, Karen Johnson and her husband, Richard, of Buxton, Donna Sprague and her husband, Daniel, of Bangor, Richard Ryan and his wife, Lynn, of Hampden and Denise Ryan of Bangor; six grandchildren, Lisa Weymouth and her husband, Scott, of Scarborough, Stacie Craig and her husband, Mark, of Kensington, N.H., Brian Sprague of Bangor, Christopher Sprague of Portland and Megan and Molly Ryan of Hampden; four great-grandchildren, Katie and Allison Weymouth; and twins Caleb and Anna Craig; her sister, Janeen Oles of Bangor; a sister-in-law, Patricia Clark; a brother-in-law, William “Frank” Roberts; her aunt, Helen Boyle, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband in 1974; her infant son, Robert; two brothers, Raymond and Herbert “Bill” Clark; her sister, Jeanne Roberts; and her brother-in-law, Thomas Oles. She will be lovingly remembered by many friends, especially, Renee Lindsay, Louine Dow and Betty Redmond. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 768 Ohio St., Bangor with the Rev. Thomas Lequin, pastor, celebrant. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Immediately following the services, family and friends are invited to return to the Parish Hall for refreshments and conversation.
