SEAL HARBOR – Marguerite Hodgkins Bryant, 78, died April 20, 2004, at a Bar Harbor hospital. The daughter of Asa and Blanche Hodgkins, Marg was born Oct. 7, 1925. Marguerite attended Bar Harbor High School and Wheelock College in Boston, Mass. In 1946, Marg married the love of her life, Donald Bryant of Seal Harbor. At the time of Donald’s death in 2002, they had been married nearly 56 years. Marguerite loved to read and was active in the Seal Harbor Literary Club and made weekly visits to the Seal Harbor Library. Marg also enjoyed playing bridge every Tuesday with her group of island friends. She was involved with the MDI Hospital Auxiliary and board for many years. Marguerite was a member of the Union Congregational Church in Seal Harbor. Marguerite’s greatest love was her family. She adored having family gatherings at her home in Seal Harbor for holidays, birthdays, or any occasion. These gatherings often included extended family and friends as well. Marg was her grandchildren’s biggest fan, enjoying watching them play sports, music, and applauding their academic achievements. Most importantly, she supported and encouraged their individuality. Her two cats, Felix and Chloe, were a large part of her life during the past few years. In addition to her husband, Donald, Marguerite was predeceased by her son, Peter, in 1998. She is survived by her three daughters, Amy Smith of Northeast Harbor, Ann Worrick of Bar Harbor, Peggy Cole of Winter Harbor; her three sons-in-law, Robert Coolidge, Russ Worrick and Charlie Cole; her grandchildren, Deasy Smith of New Orleans, La., Sloan and her husband, Jamie Corbett, of Seal Harbor, Joshua Bryant of Orlando, Fla., Ben Bryant of Bangor, Jill Bryant and Emma Hurley of Winter Harbor, and Eliza and Peter Worrick of Bar Harbor. Marguerite is also survived by her sister, Bee-Lou Horner of Franklin; her cousin, Theodosia Gray of Topsham; and several nieces and nephews.
