In 1926 she came to Seal Harbor and served intermittently as teacher and principal of Dunham School. She retired in 1963 for a few years. She was a member of Seal Harbor Congregational Church and served as church clerk for several years. She was a willing and capable worker in many community activities and was affiliated with many educational associations. In the period from 1963 to 1987, she and her husband spent several winters at their second home in Saint Petersburg Beach, Fla. In 2003 she was honored as the oldest citizen in the town of Mount Desert and was presented with the Boston Post Cane by the town manager. She is survived by a son, John E. Jordan Jr. and his wife, Eleanor, of Saint Petersburg Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Judith Harvel of West Roxbury, Mass., and Esther Gorman and husband, William, of Treasure Island, Fla.; five grandchildren, James Jordan of Bar Harbor, Ronald Jordan of Portland, Melissa Harvel of San Francisco, Johanna Harvel of West-minster, Md., and Bruce Gorman of Pinellas Park, Fla.; two great-grandchildren, Jason Jordan of Ellsworth and Brian Jordan of Trenton; several special nieces and nephews.
