MACHIAS – Marie V. Woodman, 89, passed away May 31, 2007, at Marshall’s Health Care Facility after a short illness. She was born Aug. 26, 1917, in East Machias, the daughter of the late Ira W. and Zelma (Cook) Cook. She attended schools in East Machias. Marie worked as a sales clerk at Jim Bailey’s store and Cates Store for several years before working at the Down East 5 & 10 from June 6, 1966 until she retired April 11, 1987. She was a member of the Machias Valley Church. Marie loved the outdoors, working in her flower garden and picking berries. She will be remembered as being a faithful and loving mother. Marie is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Sprague of Machias; sons, Alden Woodman of Jacksonville and Galen Woodman and wife, Sue, of Pembroke; one cousin, Elsie Bryant; brother-in-law, John Woodman and wife, Alice, of East Machias; four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, two great -great-grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren, eight great-stepgrandchildren; and special friend, Roland Hooper. She will also be missed by her two puppies, Jessi and Teddy. Marie was predeceased by her husband, Ray Woodman in 2002; one sister, three brothers and a great-stepgrandchild.
