COLUMBIA – Marilyn “Diz” Drisko Worcester, 73, passed away peacefully at a Bangor hospital, with her loving family at her side. She was born Oct. 3, 1930, in Bangor, the daughter of Clarence and Myra (Morris) Drisko. Diz graduated from Bangor High School in 1948. After raising her family, she earned her LPN in 1969, from Burlington County Community College in Burlington, N.J., and in 1975, received her RN from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Bangor. As an RN, she worked at Downeast Community Hospital, EMMC, St. Joseph’s of Bangor, and for the American Red Cross Blood Bank. She was a teacher for Washington Community Vocational Center, and with her husband, Sonny, ran several businesses including Calico Cupboard, Tabbut Rake Shop and Valtab, Ltd. Diz was an avid reader, crafter and quilter and took great pride in continuing her father’s genealogy work. She was a member of Eastern Star and Daughters of the American Revolution. Much of her life was spent giving back to family and the community through her work in the PTA, Girl Scouts, UMW, and through her service as Town Selectman. Diz was predeceased by her mother, Myra Mabel Drisko; her father, Clarence Holmes Drisko; and two brothers, Chandler R. and Shapleigh M. Drisko. She is survived by her husband of nearly 54 years, Verrill (Sonny) Roland Worcester Jr. of Columbia; and seven children: six daughters, Deyanne Worcester of Augusta, Cathy and her husband, Edward P. Marshall, of Madawaska, Sandra and her husband, Mark E. Potter, of Emmaus, Pa., Kymm and her husband, Dr. Steven M. Lange, of Ponte Beach, Fla., Pam and her husband, David W. Hull, of Alpharetta, Ga., Gayle and her husband, John G. Dunning III, of Orono; and a son, Craig D. Worcester and his wife, Sally, of Harrington; one brother, William H. Drisko of Lincoln; 15 grandchildren, Edward, Benjamin, and Meghan Marshall, Andrew Cole Potter, Whitney, Alexandra and Kelsey Lange, Sarah, Katie, and Jonathan Hull, Carrie Bailey Alexander, Heather Bailey, Ryan, Cory and Curtis Worcester; four great-grandchildren, Brettin Dinsmore and David Alexander, Dylan and Danielle Greenier; and many nieces and nephews. She’ll be dearly missed by her family. Friends are invited to call from 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 30, at the Bragdon-Kelly-Campbell funeral home in Milbridge. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Columbia Falls United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Bernard Brown officiating. Immediately following the service all are invited to the Columbia Falls Community Center to celebrate her life. Her final resting place will be at Pine Grove Cemetery in Bangor.
