FAIRFIELD – Marilyn M. Pierce, 74, wife and best friend of George W. Pierce, passed away unexpectedly April 22, 2005. Marilyn was born Sept. 28, 1930, in Skowhegan, the daughter of Elmer E. Maguire and Eva Withee Maguire. She graduated from Skowhegan High School in 1948 and attended the University of Maine. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother who courageously battled many years of chronic illness. Her faith and determination were an inspiration to all who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband, George, of Fairfield; daughter, Mary Sapoznik and husband, Ted, of Atlanta, Ga.; sons, Stephen Zebiak and wife, Karen, of Tappan, N.Y., Paul Zebiak and wife, Jill, of Brewer, and Andrew Zebiak and wife, Donna, of Fairfield; and stepchildren, David Pierce of Bradenton, Fla., Bruce Pierce of Calais and Lynn Howard of Crawford. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Christopher, Michael and Katie Sapoznik, Andrew, Richard, Michael, Matthew, and John Zebiak; stepgrandchildren, Heather and Jennifer Goode, Amber and Bridgette Pierce; and first cousins, Don Withee of East Madison and Robert Withee of Skowhegan. She was predeceased by her parents, first husband, John Zebiak; and stepson, George W. Pierce III. A memorial mass will be celebrated 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, High Street, Fairfield. A graveside service will be held at Southside Cemetery in Skowhegan at a later date. Donations may be made in Marilyn’s memory to the Lupus Foundation of America, Inc, P.O.
