NEWPORT – Marion Merry Williams, 89, died Aug. 25, 2007, at a Pittsfield health care facility after a short period of ill health. She was born Oct. 31, 1917, in Sherman Mills, the daughter of Edmund C. and Edith W. (Lewis) Roberts. She graduated from Sherman Mills High School and attended Aroostook Normal School. Marion was an elementary school teacher, teaching at schools in Dyer Brook, Detroit, Stetson and Crystal. She was married to Lewis Merry, who died in 1975, and John Millard Williams, who died in 1985. She was a member of the Sebasticook Grange, Newport. She attended Calvary Baptist Church, Newport and was the church organist for several years. She also attended Lake Road Bible Church, Monticello. Marion is survived by her two children, Lorraine Merry of Windham and Gordon and Donna Merry of Newport; one sister Helen Duguay of Houlton; seven grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Her son, Edmund “Buck” Merry, predeceased her in 1990. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, and 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center, 34 High St., Newport. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, at Brown Funeral Home and Cremation Service Center with the Rev. David Ray officiating. Burial will be in Sherman Mills.
