EAST MACHIAS and AUGUSTA – Marjorie E. Hatt, 84, passed away June 1, 2005, at the Gray Birch Rehabilitation Center, Augusta, afteran extended illness. She was born Oct. 14, 1920, in Chases Mills, the daughter of the late Charles D. and Ruth (Gatcomb) Jones. Marjorie was an excellent cook and her family enjoyed her delicious yeast rolls and baked beans. She was employed for many years for her uncle at Frankie Gatcomb’s Store in East Machias. Marjorie also worked for Marshall Manor in Machias. In her later years, before moving to Augusta, she worked for Senior Spectrum. Marjorie was a very independent and strong spirited woman. She would make an annual trip to the Down East area every spring to visit with family and friends. She is survived by two sons, Lawrence Dennison and wife, Kathleen, of West Plains, Mo., and Michael Dennison and wife, Carolyn, of Chelsea; four grandchildren, Roger Dennison and wife, Rhonda, of Wiscasset, Randy Dennison, and wife, Darla, of West Plains, Mo., Curtis Dennison and wife, Michelle, of Leeds, Kevin Dennison and wife, Paige, of Pittston; seven great-grand-children, Jaelyn, Jason, Michael, Cody, Nathaniel, Riley, and Cody; sister, Ethelyn Nutter and husband, Kenneth, of Laconia, N.H.; stepchildren, Donnie Hatt and wife, Helen, of Machias, and Dennis Hatt and wife, Yong Ae, of Virginia; stepgrandchildren, Sandy Hatt and his wife, Kim, and Danny Hatt; three great-stepgrand-children, Jason, Kelley, and Marcedas; and several nieces and nephews. Marjorie will also be missed by her many friends at the Margaret Chase Smith House where she lived for seven years. Visiting hours will take place 6-8 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2005, at Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Machias. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, June 5, 2005, at the Jacksonville Cemetery, East Machias, officiated by the Rev. Wendell Dennison.
