NATCHEZ, Miss., and PORTLAND – Marjorie Nickerson, 89, went to be with the Lord, Nov. 6, 2006. She was born Feb. 28, 1917, in Salem, Mass., the daughter of Mary and Gregory Reardon. Mrs. Nickerson lived the early part of her life in Houlton and later Portland, where she earned her nursing certification at the University of Maine School of Nursing. She served the Portland community as a nurse at Maine Medical Center in the medical/surgical and psychiatric units for 16 years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Basilica and accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. She was predeceased by her husband, Vaughn Nickerson. She is survived by her son, Dr. Gerald Nickerson and his wife, Patricia, with whom she resided in Natchez, Miss.; and numerous grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Houlton, at a later date.
