FARMINGDALE – Marshall N. Crandall III, “Buzz,” passed away peacefully at his home, Monday, July 5, 2004. He was born Nov. 4, 1942, in Lewiston, the son of Marshall Jr. and Christine (Homer) Randall. Buzz was a graduate of Lee Academy and also attended schools in Hallowell and Fryeburg Academy. He served in the U.S. Army for 23 years, including two tours in Vietnam. He retired from the Army in 1984 as a First Sergeant. He worked at several jobs since his retirement. Buzz loved his family and friends, especially his five grandchildren, who gave him so much pleasure. He also loved horses, racing at many Maine fairs and spending time at the Windsor Fair Grounds. He will be fondly remembered for his big heart and great personality. Mr. Crandall was a member of Goodrich-Caldwell Post 6 of the American Legion, the Grand Lodge of Maine, Kennebec Lodge No. 5 and Cox Memorial United Methodist Church. Buzz is survived by his wife of 40 years, Trudy (Warren) Crandall; two sons, Scott Crandall and his wife, Wendy, of Vassalboro and Marshall N. “Marty” Crandall IV, of Hallowell; a sister, Margaret Crandall, of Sweden (Europe); five grandchildren, Brett, Brandon, Abby, Kayla, and Marshall V Crandall; his nephews, James and Lars; and dear friends, Paulette McKee Crandall and Alice Severson. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Cox Memorial United Methodist Church in Hallowell. Burial will follow at the new Maine Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road in Augusta. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Cox Memorial United Methodist Church, 33 Central St., Hallowell, ME 04347.
