BANGOR – Martha B. White, 83, died June 29, 2004, at a Bangor healthcare facility. She was born June 21, 1921, in Van Buren, the daughter of Joseph and Emily (Deveau) Lajoie. Martha worked for Hazzard Shoe in Augusta for many years. She also worked as a Mental Health Aid for both BMHI and AMHI. In her later years she worked as a senior companion through Eastern Agency on Aging. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, music, crocheting, crafts and especially family gatherings. She is survived by two sons, James Rouillard of Augusta and Paul White and his wife, Suzanne of Dunedin, Fla.; three daughters, Louella Rolfe of Eddington, Linda Scott of Jacksonville, Fla. and Brenda and her husband, Michael Lovley of Dedham; 12 grandchildren, Mark, Kelly, Jamie, Billy, Cathy, Harold, Lisa, Neil, Noah, Rachel, Sara, and Aaron; three great-grandchildren, Randall, Sarah and Megan; three brothers, Will, Steve, and Russell Lajoie; five sisters, Marie Elliott, Lorraine Spaulding, Marcella Jean, Gloria Dumont, and Julie Tardiff; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by one brother, Rene Lajoie; two sisters, Alvine Wheeler and Lena Turmel. The family would like to thank New Hope Hospice and especially Laurie and the entire staff of the assisted living unit at Westgate Manor and her special friend, Kathy Blair, all whose love and care went above and beyond. A service of remembrance will be held 1 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2004 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Brookings-Smith, Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor, immediately following the service.
