FRANKFORT – Martin “Farmer” James, 69, of Frankfort, passed away Friday, April 29, 2005, at his home with his family by his side. He was born Oct. 19, 1935, in Belfast, the son of James and Blanche (Clark) James. Farmer grew up in Belfast and worked for the Maplewood and Penobscot Poultry plants. He was a hardworker and liked raking blueberries and working in his shop. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Joe, Billy and Linwood; and his sisters, Lilly, Maude and Liza. Farmer is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Terry (Bishop) James; four children, Nicole Pinkerton and husband, Brad, of Belfast, Nikki Leavitt and husband, Terry, of Frankfort, Lilly Maddocks and husband, Ray, of Searsmont, and Fred Smith and wife, Kat, of Northport; two sisters, Carolyn Ellis and Dorothy James. Farmer also loved spending time with his grandchildren, Bill James, Dayna James, Dustin Palmer, Brooklin Smith, Brad-Jo Pinkerton, Cole Pinkerton, Fred Smith III, Tyler Cross, and Kamiryn Cross; two honorary daughters, April Knight and Kendra Bowden; many nieces and nephews, including four special nieces, Trista, Megan and Mandy Curtis and Danielle Bishop; and a special nephew, Mike Curtis; several great-nieces and great-nephews; brothers-in-law, Sonny Bishop and Cassie, Meldon Bishop and Yvonne, Milford (Eric) Bishop and Bonnie, Joe Bishop and Ty; sisters-in-law, Tammy Bishop and Darlene Curtis. Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Sunday, May 1, at the Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave, Belfast. A funeral service will be held noon Monday, at the funeral home with the Rev. Don Campbell officiating. Burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery, Winterport.
