EAST MILLINOCKET – It is with great sadness that the family of Mary A. Civiello announces her passing after a brief illness Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008, surrounded by her family, at home. She was born Oct. 26, 1922, in Millinocket, the daughter of Charles A. and Elsie (Dumas) Pheeney. She spent the first 12 years of her life in Toronto, Canada, being cared for by her loving grandparents. Mary is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Dr. Frank M. Civiello of East Millinocket; her children, Anthony Civiello of Millinocket, Mary Ellen Civiello of Portland, Sam and Nicole Civiello of Wells, and Mark and Elizabeth Civiello of Portland; seven grandchildren, Kristen, Aaron, Julie, Ellis, Jocelyn, Maxwell Mario and Ava; and a great-granddaughter, Francesca; two sisters, Thalia Schmiedeshoff of Trumbull, Conn., and June Ryder of Portland; an aunt, Rita Macdonald of Toronto, Canada, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by three sons, Thomas and Roderick Pound, and Frank M. Civiello Jr. Mary worked with her husband for many years, as well as raising her children and caring for the home. She cherished her summers on Ambejejus Lake at her cottage, “Mary’s Palace.” She was a member of the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine at St. Peter’s Catholic Church. She was active with Daughters of Isabella, St. Ann’s Circle, Ceramic Club, Women’s Pitch Club and hosted many family reunions at camp. Friends are invited to visit with the family 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday at Lamson Funeral Home, 11 Tamarack St., Millinocket, where a rosary service will be held 7:30 by the Daughters of Isabella, St. Ann’s Circle. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church, 112 Maine Ave., Millinocket, with the Rev. Joel Cyr, pastor, presider.
