BREWER – Mary Agnes (Perry) Van Tassel, wife of the late Harold C. Van Tassel, died unexpectedly at her home Nov. 2, 2003. She was born Feb. 25, 1927 in Middlesex, Mass., the daughter of May A. (O’Hanlon) and Arthur M. Perry. Prior to moving to the Ellen Leach Home in Brewer in the winter of 2001, Ag was a lifelong resident of Hampden and Bangor. She was a member of St. Mary’s Parish and St. Mary’s Sodality. Upon graduation from John Bapst High School in 1945, Ag embarked on a 22-year career with the New England Telephone Co. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She left the workforce in the 1960s to marry and raise a family. Her proudest moments were those that she spent as a wife and mother. “Mimi”, as she was known to her loved ones, was devoted to her grandchildren. She was also blessed with many close friends. Her warm spirit and caring heart will be missed by all that knew her. Ag is survived by her son, Robert VanTassel of Martha’s Vineyard, Mass.; her daughter, Isabel Coopersmith and son-in-law, Peter Coopersmith of Bangor; three cherished grandchildren, Brian, Thomas and Hannah Worster; a brother and sister-in-law, Arthur and Maxine Perry of Bangor; an aunt Rachel Perry of Bangor and many dear nieces, nephews and cousins. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas Lequin, Pastor, Presider. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery.
