HOULTON – Mary Bither Webb, 91, died Jan. 3, 2007, at a local health care facility after a long illness. She was born May 21, 1915, in Linneus, the daughter of Maurice and Beryl (Stewart) Bither. Mary attended Linneus Elementary School, graduated from Ricker Classical Institute, Class of 1934, attended Ricker Junior College and Maine School of Commerce. She worked for the Bell Shop Ladies Store, the Marston’s Book Store and was the manager for 15 years at the Ricker College Book Store. She was a longtime member of the Houlton United Methodist Church, past president of the Houlton United Methodist Women, the Leah Circle and taught Sunday school for many years. Mary was a member of the Houlton Regional Ladies Auxiliary, the Business Professional Women’s Club, the Fidelity Chapter No. 32, the Lunar No. 126 Order of the Eastern Star, the Lydia Putnam Chapter of the Daughter’s of the American Revolution, the Maine Federation Women’s Club District No. 1A, and B president for six years and Houlton Club president for three years. Mary is survived by her four children, Peter Webb and his wife, Marie, of Stetson, Norma Boutilier and her husband, Garfield, of Jensen Beach, Fla., Raymond Webb and his wife, Linda, of Dedham and Jane Weston and her husband, Charles, of Eddington; 10 grandchildren, Peter Webb of Orlando, Fla., Kyle Webb of Dedham, Elizabeth Prudente and her husband, Scot, of Bangor, Michael Webb of Dedham, Garfield Boutilier and his wife, Sharon, of Barrington, Ill., Mark Boutilier and his wife, Jodie, of Flower Mound, Texas, Hartley Webb and his wife, Kelly, of Dedham, Lisa Jordan and her husband, Ralph, of Osborn, Aaron Weston and his wife, Danelle, of Newburgh, Jennifer Therrien and her husband, Travis, of Bucksport; 19 great-grand-children; two brothers, Hartley Bither and his wife, Virginia, of Boca Raton, Fla., and Wendell Bither and his wife, Norma, of Bolton Center, Conn.; two sisters, Mildred McIntosh and her husband, Herschel, of Houlton and Erma Barton and her husband, Robert, of Jensen Beach, Fla.; two former daughters-in-law, Donna King and Viola Kemp; several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her loving caregivers at Gardner Health Care Facility. She was predeceased by her husband of 66 years, Raymond Webb; five brothers, Philip Bither, Preston Bither, Willis Bither, John Bither and Carl Bither. Friends may call 10:30 a.m. Saturday until the time of the service 11:30 a.m. at the Houlton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Naomi Sam’Kpakra officiating. Interment will be at Linneus Cemetery at a later date.
