BANGOR – Mary Elizabeth (McAloon) Simmons, 95, wife of the late Arthur B Simmons, died July 6, 2004, at a Bangor healthcare facility. Mary was born Feb. 27, 1909, in Bangor, the daughter of Charles E. and Mary (McCormick) McAloon. Two days after birth her mother died. She was raised and very much loved by her father and second mother, Charles E. and Mary (Bowen) McAloon. Mary was a faithful catholic all of her life, as a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bangor. Mary graduated from St. John’s Catholic School and Bangor Catholic Girls High School with honors. She worked as an office manager of Homstead Bros. Express and Moore’s Express until her marriage. Arthur and Mary loved to dance and snowmobile. Mary is survived by her devoted son, Richard G. Simmons; sister, Rita I McAloon; niece, Linda J. and her husband, Thomas Sproul; great-niece, Megan Sproul; great-nephew, Eric and his wife, Tammy Sproul; nieces, Joan and her husband, Ashley Dumont, and Sally Taylor, and many other nieces and nephews; a special friend, Alyce Flood and many other good friends. In addition to all of her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Clarence C McAloon, Albert J. and his wife, Melba McAloon, Gerald J. McAloon; a sister, Anna L. Orfo; and brother-in-law, John F. Orfo. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Thursday, July 8, 2004, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, July 9, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 768 Ohio St., Bangor, with the Rev. Clement Thibodeau, celebrate. Interment will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments following the interment at St. Mary’s Parish Hall.
