PRESQUE ISLE and FORT FAIRFIELD – Mary F. Bruce, 89, wife of the late Alton J. Bruce Sr., died unexpectedly Sunday morning, June 3, 2007, at her Presque Isle residence. She was born March 29, 1918, in Victoria, Mich., the daughter of Adolph and Sophie (Del Russia) Giusti. Mary was raised in the Galveston, Texas, area where she attended school and married Alton J. Bruce, March 7, 1945. She came to northern Maine as a new bride from Texas in 1946 and resided in Fort Fairfield until 1960, when the Bruce family moved to Presque Isle. Mary was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends. She also enjoyed cooking and preparing many wonderful meals. She was a senior volunteer at Aroostook Medical Center, Presque Isle. Mary had been employed by the former Viner Shoe Co., Presque Isle, for 20 years and was a devout Catholic and communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Pres-que Isle, and was a member of the Senior Citizens Organization, participating in their many activities. In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband, Alton, March 2, 1990; three brothers, John, Benedict and Ralph Giusti; and one sister, Elizabeth Serrano. She is survived by two sons, Alton J. Bruce Jr. and his wife, Heidi, and Robert V. Bruce and his wife, Paula McCrossin, all of Fort Fairfield; one daughter, Katherine Bruce of Gorham, N.H.; one brother, Adolph Giusti of Galveston, Texas; two sisters, Lillian Luciano of Galveston, Texas, and Mad-eline Del Prete of Spotwood, N.J.; five grandchildren, Ashlea, James, Adam, Jared and Jonathan; two great-grand-children, Carter and Alexander; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, June 7, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Main Street, Presque Isle, with the Rev. Raymond Morency, celebrant. Interment will be held after at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. Those who wish may contribute in memory of Mrs. Bruce to St. Mary’s Catholic Church Memorial Fund, P.O.
