ELLSWORTH and BOSTON, Mass. – Mary Harriman died unexpectedly Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at her home in Boston, Mass. She was born Feb. 26, 1921, in Ellsworth, the daughter of George H. and Barbara N. Harriman Sr. Mary attended Ellsworth schools graduating from high school in the Class of 1939. Following high school, Mary moved to Boston and lived in Back Bay on Marlborough Street for the past 65 years. She worked for W.T. Grant Co. in its downtown Crossing Store as a buyer until Grant’s closed. She then worked for John Hancock Life Ins. Co., actively until retiring after age 75. Mary spent her Christmas and summer vacations in Ellsworth and at Donnell’s Pond with her family where she maintained many of her friendships. Mary lived life to the fullest right to the end. She is survived by nephews and nieces, Jack Pronovost of Vassalboro, Steve Pronovost of Needham, Mass., Robert Pronovost of Hallowell, Grace Harriman Sparkman of North Higlands, Calif., Tim Harriman of Skowhegan, Pamela Harriman, London, England, James T. Harriman of Huntsville, Ala.; also survived by brother-in-law, Wilbert Pronovost of Augusta; sister-in-law, Barbara Harriman of Ellsworth; 13 great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; sister, Margaret Harriman Pronovost; brothers, John Harriman Sr. and George Harriman Jr.; a niece, Mary Jeanice Harriman; and nephew, John Harriman Jr. Visiting hours will be held 9:30-10:30 a.m., Friday, Dec. 3, 2004, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 231 Main St., Ellsworth, where a celebration of Mary’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Interment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Ellsworth.
