JACKSON – Mary J. Clark, 68, passed away Sept. 17, 2006. Mary was born Aug. 30, 1938, in Brooks, to Evelyn (Johnson) and Clyde Smith Jr. Mary worked for many years at Stinson Canning. She enjoyed playing horseshoes, and at one time held the state championship. Mary’s only trip outside the state of Maine was for a horseshoe tournament in Ossippee, N.H. In addition to her husband, Lloyd “Buddy” Clark Jr. of Jackson, Mary is survived by five children, George Wescott Jr. of Gardiner, Barbara Potter of Vassalboro, Clyde Clark of Brooks, Sarah and her husband, Harry L. Howe, of Knox and Doris and her husband, Eric Reed, of Searsport; three brothers, Alfred of Gardiner, Byron of Massachusetts and Lawrence “Smitty” of Morrill; three sisters, Leona “Polly” Bagley of Bangor, Coralee Grass of Winterport and Coleen Putnam of Brooks; 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Mary was predeceased by two children, Brian and Cheryl; siblings, Ernell “Nellie” Bumpus, Raynor “Pete” Smith, Clyde “Jitter” Smith Jr., Marlowe Smith, Sherwood Smith and LeRoy “Roy” Smith; and a great-granddaughter, Mallory Goguen. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Crabiel-Riposta Funeral Home, 182 Waldo Ave., Belfast. Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at the Brooks Congregational Church. Interment will be at Kenney Cemetery, Brooks. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hospice Unit, care of Waldo County General Hospital, P.O.
