LINCOLN – Mary June (Watkins) Ireland, 77, wife of Earl Ireland, passed away Nov. 11, 2005, at her home. She was born May 13, 1928, in Rockland, and was the daughter of the late Harry Watkins and Doris (Smith) Walker of Howland. She was a graduate of Rockland High School and was employed at the Strand Theater while she was in Rockland. Mary lived in Lincoln for 50 years. She and her husband did dairy farming for 18 years, and she was part owner of Ireland Farms for 15 years, working in the greenhouse and vegetable stand in North Lincoln. Mary had 4-H Clubs for 20 years. She loved sewing, quilting and going antiquing. She attended the Chester Baptist Church and will be loved and missed by many, many people. In addition to her husband and her mother, she is survived by five daughters and a son, Linda Hoskins of Lincoln, Phil Young and Betty of West Virginia, Debra Batchelder and David of Virginia, Karen Duplisea and Rick of Pittsfield, Sue French and Gene and Joan Porter and Dale, all of Lincoln; 18 grandchildren, Joe and Roxanne Darling of West Gardiner, Tim and Anne Darling of Millinocket, Mike and Merri Darling of Scarborough, Andrew Hoskins of Lincoln, Lynn and Mannie Cregg of Millinocket, Phil Young Jr. and Melissa of Surry, N.H., Melanie Young of East Swanzey, N.H., Holly Young of Vermont, Micah Young of Lincoln, Kevin Batchelder and Erin Batchelder, both of Virginia, Michelle Duplisea of Pittsfield, Scott and Rebekah Duplisea of Texas, Chris Duplisea of Maryland, Jameson French, Hannah French and Selden Porter, all of Lincoln, and Billy French of Seattle, Wash. 12 great-grandchildren, Joey Darling of West Gardiner, Gavin Darling of Millinocket, Derek, Jordan and Logan Darling of Scarborough, Hudson Cregg of Millinocket, Katie Grace, Amber and Jenny Young of East Swanzey, N.H., Nora Young of Surry, N.H., Bryce and Meghan Sides of Pittsfield; and a cousin, Janet Hinckley. Friends may call from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Rd., Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home with the Rev. Rick Duplisea officiating. Interment will be in Lincoln Cemetery. As much as Mary loved gardening, she didn’t want flowers when she went to be with the Lord.
