ELLSWORTH – Ruth W. Patten, 91, died Friday, Nov. 11, 2005, at her home on Bayside Road. She was born April 2, 1914, in Allston, Mass., the daughter of Dr. Charles B. and Anne E. (Hyde) Wormelle. Ruth grew up in Allston, Mass. and attended the Brimmer and May School. She graduated from Connecticut College for Women in 1936. Ruth lived with her husband, Roger W. Patten in Framingham, Mass. and spent summers in West Falmouth on Cape Cod before moving to Maine in 1972. In their retirement, they built a log cabin on Tunk Lake, where they enjoyed many happy summers with their family. Ruth loved nature and enjoyed working in her garden. She was a strong spirited woman of great integrity, whose work ethic and selflessness will long be remembered by her family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Roger W. Patten; and her two sisters, Katherine Meissner and Marjorie Meissner. Ruth is survived by her son, Charles C. Patten and his wife, Suzanne, of Kittery; her daughter, Marjorie P. Boshko and her husband, Mark, of Ellsworth; four grandchildren, Glenn Patten, Robert Patten, Scott Crockett and Brian Crockett; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are by Bragdon-Kelley-Campbell Funeral Home, Ellsworth.
