MILBRIDGE – Mary L. Martin, 73, went to be with the Lord peacefully the evening of Friday, Sept. 28, 2007, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Sept. 26, 1934, in Bucksport, the daughter of Mary (Kirk) Lawrence of Bangor and the late John Lawrence. Mary attended Bucksport public schools, graduating in 1952. She furthered her education at Westbrook Junior College, graduating in 1954. Later she married William Martin and lived in Bangor from 1959 to 1982. She was a devoted housewife and mother, and worked for Bangor public schools as an aid. Retiring in 1982, she and her husband moved to Milbridge and owned and operated Bayview Campground until 2005, when the campground was sold. This is when they built their dream house at 232 Kansas Road, Milbridge. Mary will be sadly missed by many friends from bridge and the sewing circle. Mrs. Martin shared 48 years of marriage with William Martin of Milbridge. In addition to her husband and mother, family members include a son, Kevin Martin of Fort Myers Fla.; a daughter, Debra Muro of Bangor; three grandchildren, Billy Martin of Bangor, Jessie Martin of Boston and Jennifer Martin of Bangor; and a great-granddaughter. A celebration of life will be held 1-2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, at Mary’s home, 232 Kansas Road, Milbridge, with a procession immediately after to the graveside service 3 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery, Milbridge.
