BOWDOIN – Matthew A. Lanpher, “Matt”, 14, died unexpectedly on Sept. 26, 2004. He was born on July 31, 1990, in Portland, son of John A. Lanpher and Corinne L. Lanpher. He was currently an eighth grader attending Mt. Ararat Middle School. He lived in South Hiram until a few years ago when he moved with his family to Bowdoin. Matt enjoyed soccer, music, video games, four wheeling, hanging out with his brothers, Stephen and Charlie, loved animals and was a very patient fisherman. Matt also had a lot of friends who he loved to talk on the phone with. He will be fondly remembered by many family and friends including, but not limited to his mother, Corinne; his father, John; brothers, Stephen and Charlie; maternal grandparents, Helen and Llewellyn Francis of Searsport; paternal grandparents, Janice and Alden Lanpher of Levant; maternal great-grandfather, Harry Francis of Dixfield; aunts, Tammy, Rita, Teresa, Crystal, Chris, Cheryl, Crystal G.; uncles, Danny, Dean, Jeff, Keith, Rick and Peter; cousins, Amy, Christopher, Logan, Zackary, Carter, Ryan, Emily, Chad, Kyle, Bethia, Nicole, Connor, Brianna, Kayla and Hannah. Also surviving is his dog, Buddy; and cats, Chester, Smudge and Katie. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 29, at Neal and York Funeral Home, High St., Kezar Falls, the funeral will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 30, at Neal and York Funeral Home. A graveside service is planned for 3:30 p.m., Bowdoin. Directions will be provided at the funeral. Due to Matt’s love of animals, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Animal Welfare Society, PO Box 43, West Kennebunk, Maine 04094.
