BREWER and SAN MATEO, Calif. – Matthew Roy Weldon, 41, passed away May 5, 2008, after a struggle with liver disease and pancreatic cancer. He was born Oct. 18, 1966, in Millinocket, the son of Scott and MaryEllen (Chalmers) Weldon. Matthew attended schools in Millinocket and Hohokus, N.J. He graduated from Aragon High School, San Mateo, Calif., and owned and managed several small businesses in the San Mateo, Calif., area. He was also a talented guitarist and the inventor of the Porcupick guitar pick. Matthew was a witty and generous man, devoted father and son, and loving brother. He will be sadly missed by friends and family. He is survived by his mother, MaryEllen Weldon of Brewer; daughter, Samantha Lynn Weldon of Weatherford, Texas; sister, Ann W. Blanke and her husband, Richard, of Bangor; brother, Mark P. Weldon and his wife, Judy, of Syracuse, N.Y.; nieces and nephews, Marie Blanke, Emily Weldon, Claire Blanke, Kate Weldon and Scott Weldon; and his feline companion, Chip. The family gives particular thanks to the doctors and nurses of Eastern Maine Medical Center for their special care of Matthew. At his request, a party will be held this summer at Holbrook Pond, a meaningful place for Matthew and his family.
