DEER ISLE- Maurice “Budget” Eaton, 88, passed away Feb. 10, 2007, at Blue Hill Memorial Hospital with his family by his side. He was born Jan. 12, 1910, in Deer Isle, the son of Kimball and Edith Greenlaw Eaton. “Budget” as he was known by all, spent his life in Deer Isle. He served in World War II. During his time of service he earned the rank of sergeant. Before serving in the war, he married his beloved wife, Sylvia, Jan. 16, 1942. They recently celebrated their 65th anniversary. He built and ran a garage with his brother, Elwood, now known as Heanssler Oil. Soon after retiring he started a construction and paving business, and worked the summer months with his son, Bruce and daughter, Joy. He was an accomplished mechanic and took pride in his work and everything he did. He enjoyed the outdoors, riding on his four-wheeler, hunting, fishing and visiting his family. He looked forward to family gatherings, BBQ’s and a good rum and coke. His greatest love was his family. Budget was loved by all and will be missed dearly by his family and all whose hearts he touched throughout his life. He was an amazing and loving man. He leaves the love of his life and wife, Sylvia; son, Bruce Eaton Sr. and his wife, Sharon, of Deer Isle; two daughters, Janice McCorison of Brewer and Joy Guptill and husband, Frank, of Waldoboro; grandchildren, Kimberly McCorison and friend, Mike, of Milford; Traci Hambrock and husband, Mike, of Veazie, Skip Eaton and wife, Karen, of Deer Isle, Heather Colamore of Damariscota, Heidi Burgess and husband, Brian, of Deer Isle, Clint Eaton and friend, April, of Deer Isle, Ellen Knappe and husband, John, of Bangor; 14 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted in the spring. Those who wish to make donations in his memory may do so to the Memorial Ambulance Corp in Deer Isle, P.O. Box 387, Deer Isle, ME.
