LUBEC – Maxwell E. Lyons, 84, died June 30, 2004, at his residence on the Lead Mine Road. He was born Oct. 27, 1919, in West Lubec, the son of Ray and Addie (Stewart) Lyons. Macky was a World War II Navy Veteran serving in the Asiatic Pacific Area, American Area, African European Area and was the recipient of the Victory Medal World War II. He was a member of the Stuart-Greene Post No. 65 American Legion, the Parkinson-Vose Post No. 3315 VFW, both of Lubec. Surviving are his wife, Bertha Moores Lyons of Lubec; six daughters, Betty Wentworth and her husband, Wayne, of Connecticut, Kathy Murray and her husband, Dickie, Bonnie Lyons and David, Brenda Gross and Pete, Janet Blake and her husband, Robert, Judy Lyons, all of Lubec; one stepson, Edward Denbow of Lubec; two brothers, Kenny and Bobby; five sisters, Philena, Leona, Janice, Ramona and Jetta; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 2, 2004, at the Ridge Baptist Church with Pastor Rob Green officiating. Friends may call at the church from noon until the time of services. Burial will follow in the Green Acres Cemetery, Lubec. Arrangements are by the Scott-Wilson Funeral Home of Calais.
