BANGOR – Maxwell J. Kelley, 99, died Jan. 28, 2006, at a Bangor hospital. He was born June 18, 1906, in Jonesport, the son of Joseph Warren and Pearl (Higgins) Kelley. Maxwell graduated from Jonesport High School as valedictorian of his class. He worked as a sales representative with Sun Life Assurance of Canada for many years. Maxwell was a long-standing member of Hammond Street Congregational Church. He was also a member of King’s Daughters and Sons, Rumery Chapter No. 46 OES of Jonesport, a 75-year member of the Jonesport Lodge A.F.&A.M. No. 188, Anah Shrine and the Bangor Nature Club. Maxwell was predeceased by his wife, Rose (Drisko) Kelley; and a son, Lionel D. Kelley, both in 2000; and two sisters and two bothers. He is survived by two sons, Ralph J. Kelley and wife, Earlene, of Collegeville, Pa. and Camden, Gregory P. Kelley and wife, Susan, of Houston, Texas and Lucerne; a daughter-in-law, Jean C. Kelley of Wayne; a sister, Ruby K. Dobbins of Jonesport; 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Burial will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Jonesport, at a later date.
