OLD TOWN – Mayfred L. Tibbetts, 82, went to be with the Lord Nov. 17, 2003, after a brief illness at an Orono healthcare facility. She was born May 1, 1921, in Hudson, the daughter of Burnis and Grace (Robbins) Moody. She lived on the Kirkland Road in Old Town for most of her life, residing at Orono Commons the last few years. She enjoyed cooking, working in her flower gardens, her neighbors and going to church. She was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd where she enjoyed playing the piano. She is survived by sons, Gilbert Tibbetts and his companion, Barbie Ireland, of Old Town, Duane Tibbetts of Hudson; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Kathleen Higgins of Greene; sisters-in-law, Betty Allen of Bradford, and Lillian Peasley of Hudson; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Floyd; her parents; a son, Gordon; a grandson, Billie; brothers, Ralph and Galen. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town, where a funeral service will be conducted 1 p.m. Thursday with the Rev Garnett Chute, officiating. Burial will be at Lawndale Cemetery, Old Town.
