WEST ENFIELD – Maynard A. Thornton, 53, died April 21, 2005, at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Mass. He was born Dec. 20, 1951, in Calais, the son of Cecil and Freda (MacDonald) Thornton. Maynard retired last June from the Maine Forest Service with 34 1/2 years of service. He was a member of Lewy’s Island Lodge No. 138, AF & AM, Princeton, and Anah Temple Shrine, Bangor. He enjoyed fishing, boating, and hunting. He had a great passion for life, his family and his friends, will be greatly missed and was greatly loved by many. He is survived by his mother and her companion, Freda Thornton and Al Whitaker of Enfield; two sons, Matthew Thornton and his fianc?e, Clare Israel, of Hermon and Joshua Thornton of Lincoln; his loving companion, Debra Sawyer of West Enfield; a sister, Carleen Strout and her husband, George, of Medway; a brother, Leslie Thornton of Jefferson; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Cecil. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Monday, at the Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. A Masonic memorial service will be held during that time at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jack Caron officiating. Interment will be in Town Line Hill Cemetery, Enfield. There will be a gathering at the Waterfront after the funeral.
