PENOBSCOT – Merle Edna (London) Lee, 91, passed away Thursday afternoon, Sept. 13, 2007, at Penobscot Nursing Home, Penobscot, the wife of the late George Lee. Mrs. Lee was born and raised in Hodgdon, the daughter of the late Herbert and Irene London. Mrs. Lee moved to Massachusetts after she married her husband, George, and together raised their seven children. She had moved back to Maine five years ago to live with her son, Herbert. Mrs. Lee’s primary role in life was providing a home for her family. She worked for more than 18 years at Marshall’s, Stoneham, Mass. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed sewing and quilting. Her life centered around her family and she treasured being a Gram and a Great-Gram to her 20 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. She will be missed by all those who loved her. Mrs. Lee was the beloved wife of the late George Lee. She is the loving mother of Herbert Lee of Penobscot, Jacqueline Burns of Billerica, Mass., Bonnie Pavlich of Granby, Conn., John Lee of Billerica, Mass., Roberta Dobolik of California, Susan Aldrich of Wilmington, Mass., and Sandra Littlewood of North Reading, Mass.; sister of Phyllis Peabody of Houlton, and the late Earl London, Dorothy McKay, Guy London and Herbert “Bud” London. She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be held 12:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17, at Wildwood Cemetery, 34 Palmer St., Winchester, Mass.
