LINCOLN – Merton G. Pete, 80, husband of Lillian (Mushero) Pete, passed away April 30, 2008, at a Bangor hospital. He was born April 3, 1928, in Lincoln, the son of Alfred Thomas “Fred” and Evelyn (Hanscom) Pete. Merton was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army. He was employed at Lincoln Pulp and Paper for 54 years. He loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening and watching birds feed. In addition to his wife, Lillian, he is survived by five children, Merton and Sharon Pete of Caribou, Gayle Munson, Karen Glidden, Fred and Karen Pete, and David Pete, all of Lincoln; a brother, Lloyd Pete of Lincoln; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Friends may call noon-1 p.m. Saturday at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Tim Shaw officiating.
