BANGOR – Michael Anthony Noonan, 76, husband of the late Peggy (A’Hearn) Noonan died March 2, 2006, in California. He was born Oct. 18, 1929, in Los Angeles, Calif. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in Korea receiving a Purple Heart. He was New Mexico Coach of the Year in 1972, National Coach of the Year in 1973, San Gabriel Valley Coach of the Year in 1990. He published Coaching Clinic, Parker Bros. in 1971. He coached football for 50 years in eight states, also in Mexico and Finland. From 1996-2001, he was assistant football coach at Hampden Academy. In 2002, and he was assistant coach at MCI. In 2003, he coached the Pori Bears semipro team in Finland, and was assistant coach at Orono High School 2004-2005. He is survived by a sister, Patricia Mason of Pasadena, Calif.; two brothers, George Noonan of Las Vegas, Nev., Bruce Noonan of Ventura, Calif., several nieces nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in Pasadena, Calif. in March. He will be remembered at Mass 12:15 p.m. Monday, April 10, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Thomas Lequin celebrant. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery later in the spring.
