NEWPORT – Michael Raymond Roussin, 50, died March 26, 2005, at a Pittsfield hospital following a courageous battle with leukemia. He was born June 18, 1954, at Milwaukee, Wis., a son of Raymond and Evelyn (Thompson) Roussin. He graduated from Nokomis Regional High, Class of 1973, and received an associate degree from Bangor Community College. Mike was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Newport, and was a lieutenant and dedicated member of the Newport Fire Department since June 1973. He will also be remembered as an avid hunter and for his active service with the Boy Scouts. He had been employed at Gilman Electric and most recently, Paris Farmers Union in Newport, retiring due to failing health. In addition to his mother, Evelyn Roussin, he is survived by a brother, Timothy and wife, Patricia Roussin, all of Newport; a sister, Gail Roussin of Lyman; a former sister-in-law, Luane Roussin; aunts, June Thompson of Auburn, Margie Barcus of Florida, and Pixie Roussin of South Carolina; several cousins, nieces and nephews, Alicia, Robert, Justin, Julia, and Benjamin; great-nieces, Alexis and Shaelyn; his dog, Jewells; and special friends, Frank Schoenthaler, Elizabeth Jones, Rick Turner and Greg Buckland. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, at the Crosby & Neal Funeral Home, 117 Main St., Newport. Funeral services with full fire department honors will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 30, at the Calvary Baptist Church, 39 Grove St., Newport, with Pastor George Finnemore officiating.
